NMES - Neuromuscular electrical stimulation
NMES therapy is a physiotherapy method used to stimulate muscles through electrical impulses. These impulses cause the muscles to contract and then relax. NMES can be used for rehabilitation and training of muscles in individuals with various medical conditions and injuries. NMES is also used as a tool to restore normal muscle function and to improve the body's neuromuscular control.

During an NMES treatment, electrodes are placed on the skin's surface over the muscles that need to be stimulated. The electrodes are connected to an NMES device that sends electrical impulses with a specific frequency and intensity through the skin and underlying tissue to reach the muscle's motor nerve endings. One of the advantages of NMES therapy is that it can be used to activate specific muscles or muscle groups in a specific area.
